External hard drive

I got a 300GB hard disk drive and USB external case set. i managed to assamble every thing and set the drive to use but its only letting me use 127GB. WHy is this and how can i fix it?

maybe it's a partittion size issue. You coild try creating several partition on the drive.

Welcome to LQ red929!

I'll agree that most likely it's either a partitioning issue, or that you are only mounting one partition (presumably 127G) but not the other partition(s) that make up the remaining ~173G.

Please post the output of the following command, which will simply list some info about your drives and how they are partitioned

Note that's a lowercase "L". You may need to become root to run this command
