I have an external DVD burner and I have a problem. Linux mounts just fine, but if I unplug/turn off then it will not remount it. It mounts as /dev/scd0, and the reason for buying the external was to be able to turn it off. I would really like to have my external remount without having to restart Linux (which shouldn't need to be done anyway.) Any help anyone? I have tried many different ways to unmount it, but nothing has worked yet. HELP!!!!!
After I shut it off and turn it back on, there isn't any device listed in /dev. That's the problem, I can't even attempt to mount it, cause as far as my computer is concerned, it doesn't exist. It stinks, but I am sure there is some way around it.
I ran dmesg while it was plugged in and then rand it when i unplugged it and plugged it back in again...am I looking for anything in particular? Also I included the line from my fstab below for this device.
/etc/fstab
/dev/scd0 /media/thesexy auto pamconsole,exec,noauto,fscontext=system_ubject_r:removable_t,managed 0 0
Now my kernel is remounting my external, and my touchpad still works...I am going to try to recompile with 16K stack size to see if I can get ndiswrapper working completely. Thanks so much for the point to dmesg...that really helped! Hopefully this will help anyone running FC3 or earlier having the same problem...I love LINUX
This can also be fixed by updating the kernel higher than the FC3 default. I'm using Gentoo now, but still this will probably be an easier fix then doing the patches I've listed above.
