Ethernet card problem between Freespire and Windows XP

I downloaded the latest version of Freespire and ran it as a "live" CD. Freespire immediately recognized the Ethernet card without any system configuration and I was on the Web the instant Firefox initiated. But when I returned to XP, Windows couldn't find the card. The fix was to reboot after removing the Ethernet card, shut down Windows then reinstall the card and reboot again. Windows inevitably finds the card and connects to the internet after that clumsy procedure. Does anyone know what might cause this problem between operating systems? It could be that this is more of a software issue in which case I'll be glad to repost. Thanks for any help.

can you replicate this problem?

IE, does it happen every time you boot Freespire, and then windows, or was it a fluke one time occourance?

If its reproducible, I would defiantly submit a bug report to Freespire

edit: also, did you shut down the machine via software, or just power it off?

Thanks for the reply. Yes, the problem occurs each and every time. Also tried Puppy Linux v.2.14(designed as a primarily "live" CD) with the same result as Linspire. I'll see if I can get a possible solution from their sites.
