Unhappy ES1869 Sound Card / HSF 56k Modem

I have Compaq EN Series computer with a built-in sound card ES1869 (ESS Audio Drive). I have installed Mandrake Linux 9.0. I have the following problems:

1. Sound card (ES1869) is not configuring.
2. Modem doesn't seem to be working when try connecting.

Plz tell me the possible easy solutions.

Thanks.

I dont think HSF modems are supported under linux, or maybe thats HSP.
Do you have a configuration utility for the sound or modems?

What kind of diagnostic messages can you give?
