dvd rom HDD and dvd rewriter not recognised

how do i get it so that it's automatically mounted like in mandrake it's mounted automatically into the mnt folder. Am using Fedora core 3

You must use the mount command to mound these drives. If you want the process to be automatic, try writing a script. It is not as hard as it sounds.

I guess there must be an easier way but I don't know it.

Mandrake uses supermount. I do not suggest using supermount because it does create some problems. Its best to mount the drive manually.
