can't read data DVD-R on my DVD-ROM/CD-RW combi drive
Good Evening!
I've been Googling around for a few hours now, but can't seem to find an answer to my problem. I'm running Fedora 2.6.5-1.358 and have a Samsung DVD-ROM/CD-RW combi drive. I've configured my system to use gxine and mplayer and both are able to play DVD films, but when I pop a data DVD-R in and do an ls on the contents, I get the following:
[bruce@localhost cdrom]# ls -laF
total 6
dr-xr-xr-x 18 4294967295 4294967295 952 May 5 2004 ./
drwxr-xr-x 9 root root 4096 Nov 16 00:38 ../

My drive definitely supports DVD-R cause it reads fine under XP.
my fstab doesn't contain any mention of a dvd device, but then it's a combi drive so I'm wondering if that matters.
/dev/cdrom, /dev/cdwriter and /dev/dvd all exist and all are sym-links to /dev/hdc which is the combi drive.
So, I'm a bit confused. Anyone know how to resolve this?
Many thanks
Bruce
