I managed to get a firmware updater (not Lite-On though) to work under wine a few months ago. I had to set it up and run it as root though, since it needed permissions to directly access the drive. Other than that, it ran perfectly.
Also, if there are any dos installers available, there are a multitude of freedos boot disks and such out there that you could use to boot your system with and run it from.
