Driver needed: HP ScanJet 4200C

Hi,

I need a driver for linux for my scanner Hp ScanJet 4200C,

Mandrake has apparently the driver but it can't find it automaticaly, I tryed every usb port and checked with Kooka for any response.

I checked the website of Hp but no linux drivers were supported.

Any ideas?

Ok, I found the file I need in rpm.

I tryed changing stuff in the /etc/sane.d file regarding hp4200 but still nothing works.

Hello Carroarmato0

I have a HP 4200C; and I'm having the same problem as you. Did you find advice on this yet.
What stuff are you referring to that you changed in /etc/sane.d. I tried to find this file and
found it empty. I also found the rpm and used alien to change it to a .deb file; and actually installed
in my system. But there is a dependency problem and it deleted KOOKA and other items I need to use the
scanner. I just don't know where to place the backend files I got from sourceforge. The sourceforge instructions
make absolutely no sense to me for the backend. I've searched online everywhere; and scanners are a real problem
to get working for newbies in linux; and I find much better instructions on other items.

Let me know if you find a step by step walk through for the HP scanjet 4200C. I've been searching for two weeks
now; and I can't get much help at all. I even tried the Libranet forum. Now I try here....

Sorry if I cant help you any further.

If you noticed; this post is old. In the mean time I've both a HP Photosmart 2610 and works perfectly under Mandriva 2006.

You didn't specified which distro you are using, but maybe modern versions of any distribution should solve this problem.
