Does Kernel support the new intel Pentium D CPU (CMT)?

The new dual-cores for intel Pentium D are supposed to be CMP which is Chip Multi Processing ?? That means that they are only CMP and not SMP(Symmetric Multi Processing) or that thet are both CMP and SMP ???

So what's the support from the kernel for CMP ?? For SMP i know it's good
