dlink dfe 530 tx / CentOS 4

Hey Everyone,
So I'm trying to configure a second nic, dlink def 530 tx but seem to be having issues. as per the ethernet howto, the def 530 tx has a few compatible modules for it; sundance, tulip 8139too and ne.
so I've installed the card, created the /etc/syscofig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth1 with all the appropriate stuff. I'm running centOS wich is pretty much Redhat Enterprise 4 and so I noticed a little difference with /etc/modules that I am used to... it seems /etc/modules.conf replaces that. I looked to see if the tulip module was present... it was as per lsmod. So in the /etc/modules.conf file I put the following alias eth1 tulip. when I go to restart the network services and bring my new interface, I get a message along the line could not load module... I am at work now and don't have the exact message. I issued insmod tulip and it doesn't complain about anything and so I assume that the module is there. I was just wondering if someone could possibly give me some directives or suggestions on how to best get this nic installed.. it's taking me too much time now!!

Thanks,

Chris
