Debian Realtek 662

I have Realtek ALC662 rev1 (/proc/asound/card0/codec#0)

And my gnome applet and alsamixer allow me to adjust the volume without a problem. The problem is that I can not hear any sound. I can not find any strange or error message in /var/log/syslog or /var/log/message.

Which place or files can I check for find out the root cause?

Env: Debian squeeze, kernel 2.6.35.4

Thanks.

When I had this issue not all controls were turned up in alsamixer. I think it was PCM that was the culprit.

Here is the first google hit for that. Though I am sure you've read this it has some good reference info.
