D-link dfm-560e


i got this external modem

will it work under linux or not

how shall i know

if it's a hardware modem it will work. if it's a winmodem it won't work.

If it's external it's more likely to be hardware.

I have same problem :-|

can i ask u what did u do with ur modem ?
I have same problem...
I`m useing Red-hat 9.0 . on boot , it gives me message about my device ( means red-hat can manage it ) .
but how can i install it ?
i`ve never installed such modem on linux....
please give me e good guide

u don't need to install it at all

it is already installed

all u have to do is to be sure that the link /dev/modem is pointing to ur modem and just whatever dailer u r using to conect to the net

r u using kppp or what?

noe it`s working :-)
thnx for ur guide...
i use kppp....
but seems there is a trick there...
the first conection i maded didn`t worked !
it says " .... error 8 "
but the second ,third ,..... r working nice :-)

I'm thinking of buying one of these, do you need to install any drivers for it or can you just bang it strate in and away she goes?
