Creative Lab Live soundcard trouble in Red Hat 8.0


I am completely new to Linux. My Creative Labs Live! sound card won't work. Can anyone help me? Thanks

run sndconfig

then run aumix and make sure the volume is up

where do I run those?

Where do I run sndconfig or aumix?

I have looked for them all throughout my computer and tried many different situations. Thanks, Mack

open a shell (command terminal)

in the menu click Run Program
then type

xterm
