Question Red Hat 9 & ISDN & Creative Labs Live!

Hi there!

I am just wondering if there is any Linux guru that can help me.
I have installed Red Hat 9, and I just can't make the Red Hat to see my ISDN card (Twister)?! I have read that I have to recompile my kernel with the ISDN module, but the question is how? Any "newbie-slow-motion" explanation would be nice & would mean very much to me...
The same question I have about the Creative Labs Live sound card: what do I have to do that the RH9 will recognize it? Please help...

Thanx in advance,
XariX

Hi,

I have the same sound card and RH9 could recognize it during the firstboot. If you haven't done this go to Main Menu -> System settings and start the Sound Card detection. You will hear a sound if your card has been recognized....

Type
cat /etc/modules.conf
at the console and you will see something like this.
...
alias sound-slot-0 emu10k1
post-install sound-slot-0 /bin/aumix-minimal -f /etc/.aumixrc -L >/dev/null 2>&1 || :
pre-remove sound-slot-0 /bin/aumix-minimal -f /etc/.aumixrc -S >/dev/null 2>&1 || :
...
As for the ISDN, go to the same place and choose network and you will get the networkconfigurationtool. Go to Hardware, select New from the panel above and then choose your ISDN card. Select as D Channel protocol EuroISDN. From the panel above File->Save and close. After that go to Main menu -> System Tools and then select Internet Configuration Wizard. New Connection ISDN ... Tthe rest must be pretty simple.

After the configuration make a reboot. It didn't work without a reboot on my machine.
If it can't help go to the redhat.com and look for isdn configuration docs. If your ISDN card is not on the list then you will have to look for inofficial rpms in the internet.

I hope it was a bit helpfull.
