controlling Tx voltage of IRDA port with FC2
I'm working on a circuit that can turn off the case lights of my system. my plan is to use the TX pin of the IRDA port (i.e. com2) on the motherboard. I believe that I can control the default level of the TX pin, so that I could toggle it from low to high. this signal would be passed to a transistor that will interrupt the power to the "disco" case lights. My big questions "Is this possible and if so how do you toggle the TX high/low default?". If any one else has a better idea on how to do my end goal of having the "disco" lights turn off when my system is not in use i.e. sleep mode, please help.
