Connect digital camera via firewire cable
Hello everyone,
I have sony handycam DCR-HC30E camera.
I am interested in connecting it to my Gentoo computer via firewire cable. I`ve connected camera to computer with Firewire cable and turned camera on in VCR mode. What do I need to do for identification camera in linux?

That's it....what are you expecting it to do?
Fire up Kino or Cinelerra, and have fun...firewire cameras are well supported. I don't have that specific model Sony, but the JVC and Sony cameras I do have, have all 'just worked'.
Thank you, TB0ne. It's not problem.
I've just run Kino and gone to the Capture section of Kino and press Play on my cam. It's working
Excellent...alot of times, when folks go from Windows to Linux, they expect a zillion dialog boxes, messages, "auto-play" things, to pop up. Which, of course they CAN be made to, but more often than not, things "just work" these days..
