Compaq RA4000/4100 Controller not recognized by bios in Redhat 9..
Hello,
I have a Compaq Proliant 8500 with a Compaq Fibre Channel Host Adapter installed and connected to 3 RA4000/4100 Compaq Arrays via a Compaq Fibre Channel Storage Hub.
This configuration had Novell installed and using the fibre arrays. When I installed RedHat 9, I am not seeing the devices in the O/S. I do see the arrays via Compaq SmartStart and can configure the arrays fine.
I catcha brief message durring boot (that is not in my logs) about a device not being seen by BIOS, and I'm thinking it must be this, but not 100% sure.
The cpqfc module is not loaded in the kernel.
/proc/scsi/scsi has nothing listed, and even when I was installing RedHat, the drives did not show up when I selected Disk Druid for my partioning.
Another possibility is that they are there and I do not know the correct device link (/dev/ida, /dev/sd, /dev/rd, etc).
So my questions:
1. Does anyone have this HW configuration (or without the storage hub, I've tried that too) running on RedHat, if so, what version?
2. Once it is working, what is the correct path to the array?
3. Any tips on installing the cpqfc module *(the readme said to use the cpqfc.patch file, but I can't find it).
Thanks
Bob
