cd-rom mounting error

I'm currently using slackware with KDE 3.1. When su in konsol and then mount /dev/cdrom I get:

mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/cdrom,
or too many mounted file systems

same thing with /mnt/cdrom. My fstab is correct, I just installed slack today... So much for ditching gnome and trying KDE

nothing is mounted on besides my root drive
heres my fstab:
Code:
 /dev/hdc1 / reiserfs defaults 1 1
/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom iso9660 noauto,owner,ro 0 0
/dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy auto noauto,owner 0 0
devpts /dev/pts devpts gid=5,mode=620 0 0
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0

In Slackware /dev/cdrom is a symlink to a character device...........
look in the /dev/ directory and see what the symlink is connected to......
usually it is ........./dev/hdc
you are showing root as being mounted on /dev/hdc1
something is off kilter here...........LOL

Welcome to LinuxQuestions.

What type of CD are you trying to mount? Audio CD's can not be mounted because they do not contain a valid filesystem.

well, never thought to try another disc then my music disc... figured I test audio and mounting at the same time. I put in another cd and it mounted fine heh. Thanks for your help

the questiong about mounting hdc1 I'm not sure why it does that, it was just like that when I installed. I do have another hard drive if that matters :/
