Cd Drive mount faliures

Everytime i try to mount my cd rw i get this
# mount /dev/cdrom1
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/cdrom1,
or too many mounted file systems
(could this be the IDE device where you in fact use
ide-scsi so that sr0 or sda or so is needed?)
and when i try to mount my dvd rom it says the device doesnt even exist?
does anyone know how i can fix this?

Do you have a cdrom in the drive when you try? Because you can't mount a cdrom drive with nothing in it in Linux unless you use supermount.

perhaps the CD-RW is cdrom0 and the DVD drive is cdrom1?
