Cannot boot from CD

I cannot boot from CD. When I power up my system I get the lilo boot options
currently configured as:
WinXP = hda1 (default)
Mandriva2006FE = hda2

I have checked my bios settings and my PC is set to boot in this order:
floppy
CDROM
+ hard-drive
|____hard-drive1
|____hard-drive2 [this is just formatted as FAT32, not in entered in lilo.conf]
Boot from Network

But when I put any bootable CD in my DVD ROM drive and power up my sytem it just goes straight to LILO boot loader OS selection screen, then I select an OS and this boots the OS again skipping the CDROM boot option.

If I enter a bootable floppy this is detected and boots appropriately before the lilo screen.

Any one got any ideas on this problem?

Thanks in Advance..

HERE IS MY LILO.CONF FILE OUTPUT IF THIS HELPS:

its got nothing to do with lilo. check your ide cables and master/slave configuration.put cdrom in the first in the list of boot device priority. also you might want to check you are actually doing this with a bootable cd.

problem sorted thanks everyone; I changed the jumper switch on DVDROM to 'Master' and changed the attachment on the ribbon cable to the next one - hardware problem not linux related.
