Can linux mount a Kindle ereader as a storage device ?

Hello,

I am planning to buy a kindle ereader. Is there a particular model that works in linux. I just want to know if it mounts as a mass storage device so I can transfer non DRM files.

As far as I am aware, all versions of the Kindle offer a USB mass storage mode; so you can mount it and transfer files to it like you would any other storage device.

I have to ask these types of questions because I don't use windows. Windows users are fortunate to get drivers/apps for any peripheral they buy unlike for linux.
