can laptop diskdrive be made usb?


story dead hp latop pulling off parts like hard drive to make external. can this be done with diskdrive as well? if so what do i need? and if you know a way to make the 17 inch monitor work for my ubuntu desktop im open ears as well. I only get to play with my linux when i can get her off the xp machine so i can steal the monitor.

Assuming by "diskdrive" you mean "CD drive", I believe you can do that. You'll need an IDE to USB adapter capable of taking slim-line drives. A quick Google search lead me to this one: http://www.centrix-intl.com/details.asp?productid=3022

Sorry, but I don't think it's possible to hook up a laptop's LCD to a desktop computer. Somebody please correct me if I am wrong about this.

You can whether it is hdd or cdrom (SATA or IDE) if you can find housing / external box enclosure (IDE/SATA to USB2.0, etc)...some available either for 2.5 inch or 3.5 inch. For laptop you want the small one

Is it using DVI cable / Does your desktop support DVI cable? If it is VGA or your desktop support DVI you can use it.

I know it says these are for touch screens but could it be adapted for my laptops screen to make a desktop screen?
