ATi Radeon 9000 Pro Driver Problem

Hey, I am relatively new to linux, and I am running RH9, kernel 2.4.20-8, and XFree86 version 4.3.0. I have an ATi Radeon 9000 Pro, and can't get the drivers installed. I know i downloaded the correct drivers. I installed them a couple different ways:

1) simply running the rpm and letting it install
2) http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...003/04/1/53349

The first one crashes X and it runs the configuration utility so i can select the horrible radeon driver that comes with RH9. The second crashes X, and I have to delete the old XF86Config file so X can run the configuration utility.

I would like to run OpenGL screensavers, games, etc. with speed and good looks. Could somebody help me out with this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The "horrible" drivers called radeon works quite well than ati!
They are enough for yr application!! They use DRI and OpenGL
They are Open Sorce too (ati not)!!

Maybe you need to download the lastest version.... dri.sourceforge.net

In /etc/modules.conf just add (as root) :

options agpgart agp_try_unsupported=1

Assuming that agpgart is loaded obviously.
Try "modprobe agpgart" to see that.

Cheers !
