wretched ATI drivers again here's my xorg.conf file made by fglrxconfig for ref.........................simply wont work gives a black screen. then the x server tells me its not setup correctly.. Dunno what to do . I have a radeon 9200

what's distro you are running with? you shoud post more info about your settings, like distro, wrong messages.etc. please repost it again with more info so we can help you better.
It looks like you used fglrxconfig to make that file. BAD IDEA!!! fglrxconfig only screws up the xorg config file (learned from expirence). So your xorg.conf file need to look exactly like this for redhat/slackware distro's (havn't tried it on any others yet):

I wish you luck for this worked for me (atleased until I updated to 2.6.11, which i have not gotton it to work since then because ati doesn't support 2.6.11 yet)

distro is slack 10.1 as shown below my id ...................d'uh
no error msgs .............screen just goes black................keyboard goes dead..
nevertheless X -configure still works

nopes...............gave it up..................instead upgraded my kernel from 2.4.29 tp 2.6.11.8 and built radeon into it. i did'nt use the fglrx drivers that came from ati site.........
yet to try those drivers on new kernel
