Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

ATI 8500 LE dvi(s) to vga

Not a specific linux question, but a hardware one.

I have an ATI 8500LE with vga and dvi output. I want to dual head my box, so I go to order a dvi-to-vga adapter, and I get reader feedback, "WARNING, does not work with ATI 8500LE DVI-S". I look at another brand, same thing. I go to ATI's web site, and it is the only card that I can't find the adapter for.

First, what is so different?

Second, anyone know where to get a DVI-S to VGA adapter?

Cheers,

Pete
