ATI 9200SE DVI output not working? I need help!

I wonder what is wrong with my ATI radeon 9200se DVI output ... my LCD monitor works fine using the generic driver for the graphics card (by the way, im using SuSE 9.1 and RH9 distros) but after installing and configuring the ATI's proprietary driver for the card--- my LCD monitor goes blank. I plug my CRT monitor to the analogue output of the card and it works fine... hardware acceleration works well (coz i can now play UT2003) but i wanted to use my LCD monitor(which has a digital input only) and not the CRT one. In order to do that, i had to uninstall the ATI proprietary driver and return to the generic driver which is not what i wanted.

i guess its the driver that needs some fixing... ( im a linux-newbie)

any help pls?

I have four ATI Radeon cards and a host of Linux OSes and of course no real 3D acceleration with the standard radeon driver that comes with the X-Windows System and the one that comes from ati's Linux support site. I gave up on ATI's driver and went with DRI. > http://dri.freedesktop.org

t3gah, thanks for that link to the dri site but I am afraid that I am totally lost there.

I have just installed the propietery ATI linux drivers but would like to use the ones that you recommend at dri. However, as a realtive newbie I do nto know what to do there. IS there a "how to" somewhere that oyu can recommend?

I also want to be able to use my DVI connector for my tft screen.

Many thanks.
