Atheros vs. Intel 3945

I'm in the process of ordering a new Thinkpad X60, but I haven't been able to decide on a wifi card. I had been dead against the intel because of the binary blob in the previous driver, but since they released a new open-source one, I'm not so sure.

Has anyone had experience with both of these that they could make suggestions based on? Is one supposed to perform better than the other?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
