Agere Systems AC97 modem, Xandros 2.0

I just installed Xandros 2.0 on my laptop. I can't get my modem to work. I'm completely new to linux, so I don't really know where to start except that it's probably a driver issue.

The connection wizard won't recognize the modem. Assuming windows hasn't mistaken it for something it's not, it's an Agere systems AC'97 modem.

If it's possible to get it to work, can someone help me figure out how?

Your modem sounds like a soft-modem, not a real modem.
Use this link to get some big information on software modems, I used to
have a Lucent Winmodem, and this site helped me to get mine going..
