I have been working on trying to get an Adaptec I2o SCSI adapter and raid 5 working. I need it for PCLinuxOS and their forums have run out of ideas. So here I am.

First this is a hardware raid 5 and is transparent to Linux. I have successfully installed Fedora Core 4, but have removed it because I prefer PCLinuxOS. I have successfully installed Suse 10.0 but it locked hard upon boot.

PCLinuxOS does not recognize it with the live cd until I enter modprobe dpt-i2o. Then it is full accessible. I actually proceeded to do an install and even attempted to set the installkernel with --with dpt-i2o. Then an MKINITRD for a new img file. Ran lilo -v and it still is not recognized.

The next move was to put an IDE drive in. Do an install and to work on the problem outside the live cd. I recompiled the img file without success. But it is fully accessible when I enter modprobe dpt-i2o at the prompt.
