adding an Adaptec 1542 SCSI host adapter

I have added an adaptec AHA 1542 SCSI host adapter to my Mandrake 10.1 Limited edition system. It is not seen (according to HardDrake). The Jaz drive is not seen so it appears that the SCSI adapter is not being recognized. How do I install the card?

(The machine is a multi-boot system and the Windows systems automatically detects the card and the Jaz drive. The hardware is functioning properly in Windows.)

first type:
lspci
make sure you see your adaptec card listed

i am not familiar with how mandrake handles kernels, but to me it sounds like your kernel doesn't have adaptec scsi support built into it. the two options you have are recompile the kernel with scsi support in it, or compile an adaptec scsi module for your card and modprobe it.
mandrake may already have this module and you just need to find it and figure out how to activate it.

The modules were included but it appears that they were not compiled. Everything is now working. Thank you.
