5 button M$ weel mouse


hi, can any one tell me how to or a website telling me how to configure my M$ 5 button weel mouse in slackware 10.

i miss the weel working and the back button an the mouse when browsing the web.

stupid M$ they even mess my machine up when windows isnt even loaded on it any more

Well, this time I think M$ is not the problem. No need to blame them ... no other mouse would work for you right now.
You just have to use the search function in this forum ...

To get your wheel working you just need to add a line to your xorg.conf's mouse-section:

Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"

That's all. Maybe you have to switch the protocol from PS/2 to IMPS or so, have a look at your xorg.conf

With the buttons I think it's a bit more complicated, haven't done that myself.

actually you'll need ZAxisMapping "6 7" so it recognises all 7 buttons (scrolls count as buttons in X)

so
Option "Buttons" "7"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "6 7"

Then you'll probably need to do xmodmap -e "pointer = 1 2 3 6 7 4 5" to get it to scroll with the scrollwheel.

Check it's all right with xev.

thanks for the helpi will give it a go now and let you know if it works, if i dont reply it probably didnt work or i did it wrong and got stressed out so the computer took a flying lesson through the window lol
