Yellow Dog Triple Boot
Hey all, I have some questions about triple-booting Yellow Dog on a dual 500 mac.
First, I suppose the system specs are in order: Dual 500 G4 procs, a 20 gig HD and an 80. The 20 is partitioned twice, one for an OS9 boot and one for an OSX. The 80 stores only personal files (no software/etc...), and I would like to keep it that way.
My question is really whether or not my plan for all this will work. I have copied all the files from the 20-gig onto the 80, and now want to reformat the 20 into 4 partitions: os9, osx, linux, and linux swap. I then want to copy install os9 and osx onto the partitions. Then I want to copy the files (including system folders) back off the 80-gig, onto their respective partitions.
Will this work? Will these systems boot without any problems? Will I need to reinstall software? Is there some other way to back them up that will allow me to restore them without hassle? And just how much space will yellowdog linux need to function? If you have any other plans for how to make my dual-boot into a triple-boot, please share it.
Thanks,
--Tim A.
P.S. Is there a way to repartition the drive without wiping it? Thanks again!
