Question Yellow Dog

I recently installed Yellow Dog linux on an iMac G3 (300MHz).

The network card is a "GMAC (Sun GEM)" on eth0. The status of the card says 'ok'. However when i go to activate my network connection is spits the following error:

"cannot activate device eth0!
sungem device eth0 does not seem to be present, delaying initialization."

any suggestions?

Exactly what mine does. I've also installed Ubuntu Hoary and Kubuntu with the same result. The dhcp is not listed under system services when I run "setup" as root. It used to work for me in Ubuntu and YD3.

Cheers
John
