xfree86


how to upgrade my default RH9 xfree86 version to the lates 4.3.0?

you can use the up2date program to automate the upgrade i believe, or just do it yourself, grab the rpms from freshrpms.org rpmfind.net or similar and upgrade them like any other package.

Also you should always ask yourself is it worth upgrading, are you going to recieve anything important out of it like better support for your video card, etc. If nothing has changed or no updates for your particular video card, I'd have to say your just wasting your time updating, etc.

Just a thought really...

i think newest version of X is better and more stable, isnt it?

If your X is always crashing, possibly, but I use older versions myself with no problems.. I really only update X if I need the support for it. X is already pretty stable to me, its KDE and Gnome that causes the crashes most of the time, not X itself.
