"extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display" upgrading XFree86 to 4.3.0 on Sarge

With a properly working hardware accelerated Voodoo3 card I upgraded XFree86 to 4.3.0 from the Sarge repository and glxinfo now reports "extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display".

Is this a bug yet to be resolved? According to XFree86 a Voodoo3 should be working with accelaration with 4.3.0, so I'm kinda lost here.

Dependencies are screwed as well, libglu1-mesa (5.0.0-5.1) can't be installed next to xlibmesa-glu (4.3.0-7), the latter giving some problems as far as I know right now with other packages. Dselect wants to uninstall most of KDE and some apps.

Seems to come down to xlibmesa3-gl (a lot of dependencies), which has been replaced by xlibmesa-gl and xlibmesa-dri. I guess it will take some time to fix this...

Even with the dependencies troubles I don't see why the hardware acceleration doesn't work anymore.

solved

Problem is solved. For some reason the 3D acceleration now only works in 1024x768 or less. It worked fine before with 1280x960 pixels, so I overlooked this completely. It's a darn shame, that is, but it still works ().

note. Bugreport can be found under #234388, the more Voodoo3 users complain the better. It may get fixed.
