Wine is a emulator, it creates a fake parition in your /home/user directory and makes Windows based programs think its running on a Windows box, but its actually Linux.

erm.. wine is NOT an emulator

Yeah, it's a 'compatibility layer', or something, isn't it? Do any of you guys know of a Linux 'compatability layer' for Windows. I've heard of cygwin, and read about it, but it sounds like it could quite easily cause many-a-headache.
