There was a thread titled "I hate Linux!!!" which drew everybody's attention. My dance with Linux is becoming similarly frustrating.
I tried to print to a Windows printer server, but what the printer did was happily send out blank pages.
I installed a module for my modem, and I was able to connect to my ISP, but I got no data transmitted through this modem.
Maybe I did not configure them in the right way, but even a dummy would have no problem doing all these things on a Windows machine.
Why would the GNU, RedHat, and all the developers care to develop Linux as a GUI workstation? As far as I see, it'll never compete with Windows. What do you guys say?
honestly looks like a troll to me. You seem to have been here long enough to know that setting up something may be difficult, but possible. Honestly, if you have no need for linux....you really have no need for it, so stick with windows. What I have learned the hard way, is that if you promise magic, the people expect magic (and you get 3 AM phone calls).
I love Linux.
I love Linux because it's so stable
I love Linux because it's free
I love Linux because it's flexible, I can install it how I want it, as stripped or as bloated as I want it
I love Linux because it doesn't make all the choices for me, it doesn't treat me as a moron
I love Linux because it's much more secure, not as sensitive to viruses and worms
I love Linux because it doesn't secretly install spyware
I love Linux because it's open, I can find out how it works
I love Linux because I can fix problems without a re-install
I love Linux because it comes with so much free software
I love Linux because of it's philosophy: it's not made to take my money and my freedom
I love Linux because we are a community that help each other
I love Linux.
To Linux the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory, now and forever!
I admit any day that printing with Linux sucks.
Big times.
But thats me being a dummy - if I install Mandrake it spits out anything I throw at it.
Other than that I never had a problem as bad as with M$ - partition self destructed there.
Once you learn how to do it it's easy. And that line about how it's easy in Windows? If you know how to do it in Windows it's easy. Of course you'll have to reboot.
And if Windows chokes on the driver for some unknown reason? Good luck finding out why. Of course you'll have to reboot.
And if you want to change your static IP address in Windows. Kind of easy. Sorry about the reboot.
What's that? Your comuputer *crashed* when you tried to print soemthing in Windows? Guess you need to reboot.
Something not quite right in your Windows environment? Did you try rebooting the machine?
How do I get to my other desktops in Windows? Whaddya mean there's only one?
No it will never compete with Windows. Too many people seem to like rebooting and that would require a fundamental change in the linux kernel tree.
Yes. I took the troll bait, but I'm exceptionally grumpy today.
