Which lib.a for time() in Ubuntu desktop 6.06?

I'm trying to compile a program with gcc that uses time(NULL), which .a library is the time() function in?

I don't have a libtime.a library anywhere on my machine, it must be in another one but I don't know which one.

Many thanks

gcc newbie

The time function is part of the standard library, (g)libc, so you normally do not need to link it explicitly.

Solved

I searched the web for the info but couldn't find it.

I solved my problem, nothing to do with the libaries - I didn't understand the compiler error message.

Many thanks
