FC5 light blue stripes all over the desktop from time to time

hi,
since I have upgraded to FC5 I get from time to time light blue stripes all over the desktop or the entire desktop turns light blue, not depending which application I'm just using....
when I go with my courser over the blue stripes than they go away, after it starts once it gets worse after a while...then only option -> restart
after a reboot the disappear and it takes a while until it starts again.....

I have already upgraded to the latest version of the fedora kernel

thanks for help

I just installed FC5 and am also experiencing this. They went away after I changed the screen resoultion to 800 x 600, which stinks since I have a 20-inch monitor.

hi vindane,
I'm finally happy that I have found someone who is experiencing the same strange things.....
I was suggested to find another driver for the X300, because this is a pretty recent card, so it could be that
the driver isn't working properly......

does your system also crash several times, especially when you work with firefox...

Well to be perfectly honest with you, I've just installed Fedora yesterday after a long Windows XP stint. (The wife got mad at me changing distros every month. So I just got her her own computer.)
But I too have an X300 so I would definitely blame it on our card. The little time that I did play around with it yesterday, it crashed twice while in Firefox. Meaning, the screen froze up completely, causing me to have to cold reboot.

I haven't looked at the driver situation yet.

I really don't think it's Firefox that's causing the problem. When I'm at my desktop with no apps open, my screen will do that weird covering up/highlighting thing with the desktop icons and will only show part of my background wallpaper.

I agree with you....is the same with me...

with the firefox update I was referring to the freezing thing that actually only happens when I'm using firefox....

Okay I think i found us a temporary fix. I changed my graphics driver to a generic vesa driver and am not having a single problem!
Maybe we could drop a line to the Fedora developers about this issue with the X300.

hi,
hey thanks it works for me too with that driver....
I wanted to subscribe a bug to fedora bugzilla...but they ask there which component is causing the bug, and I don't know which component it is.....

maybe you can take a look there....

I have also updated firefox and so far it isn't crashing anymore....
