Where is Linux Kernel Config Files ?

Hey all,

I just installed Slackware 9.0 On my Gateway I am running a LAN with 3 puters and I would like to use IP Masquerading to connect them all up to the www. Reading through a couple of HOWTO's I understand what they want me to do but the only thing I cannot find is my Kernel Source...I need to add IPMQ into my kernel so i hear.

This is my second return to the *nix world my last visit was cut very short So anyways I been using FreeBSD for about a month now I am very comfertable with it and I know linux is rather simular but my question is exactly this:

Where can I find my Linux Kernel Source so that I can edit it and rebuild my kernel to add IP Mascureading? I performed a full install when I installed Slackware so I guess just like FBSD it would install the kernel source along with it?

All the guides on kernel rebuilding/configuration I have read involve downloading the source and are mainly based on completely upgrading the kernel but surely it is installed somewhere locally or @ leat on the Install CD. I would prefer to avoid getting it from the net as I am on a VERY slow dialup connection at the momment

Thanks

it must be in /usr/src/linux
if not do a rpm -qa kernel check it you installed kernel source files if not install them from your dist web site or from www.kernel.org

/usr/src/linux is where the source is. If the source packages weren't installed, you can always download the latest stable kernel source from www.kernel.org

I'm not sure, but if the kernel modules you need may already be installed, in which case you just have to modprobe them to get going - no need to recompile.

Look for ipt_MASQUERADE.o under
/lib/modules/$(uname -r)/kernel/net/ipv4/netfilter

I don't thing you have to recompile the kernel for Slack 9.0
Even older version like 8.1 is coming already set for masquerading.
