Server:
Dual AMD 2000+
1 GB DDR RAM
adaptec RAID - mirroring

Does the latest kernel (stable - 2.4.18) cover for the dual AMD processors and the other hardware?

How do you intiate SMP??

I will be installing RH7.2 at first.. then upgrade to 2.4.18
Will the rest of the software (Apache, MySQL, etc) be OK with the latest kernel and the Dual AMD setup?

it'll be fine, you will need to compile your own kernel to enable smp properly. read the howto at linuxdoc.org for info on how to do it.

smp rpms

You may not have to compile your own kernel. Redhat provides pre-compiled smp kernels (*.rpm) that you can download from any one of their ftp mirrors.

For all kernel related info, see this page:
http://www.redhat.com/support/resour...de/kernel.html

hope this helps
