Here is the scoop >
ASUS Dual AMD Mother Board
Promise Fastrack100/TX/LP Series
2X80GB Maxtor 7400rpm (prefered Seagate)
RedHat 7.3 Installation with SMP Support
After the first installations failed I went to promise to get the linux drivers. Got them and on installation, loaded them. Everything worked fine.
I want to compile the new kernel from source 2.4.20-13.7smp using current config for the 126.96.36.199 with the new changes and SMP support into the new kernel. Is that possible and how can it be easly acheived ? I need to use my Fastrack drivers that were loaded with the 188.8.131.52 kernel.
I lost my 2.4.183smp config due to a bonehead mistake on trying to rpm the new kernel.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also on current installation when smp was enabled, the server ran slow for two processors. Now that I am running only one processor my system performance is greatly increased !! Is this an issues with the AMD chipset ?
