weird time problem

One of my machine when loogged into X (Gnome) is showing wrong time. The machine runs a cron job every 4 hrs to rdate the time from another machine on my network that is gettings its via NTP..

The weird thing is that if i bring up a shell with X & type in cmd date it shows the correct time..

Any ideas why on the same machine i have two different time sets ???

Are all your time zone variables set right? Is one UTC time and the other local time?

I'm having the exact same problem. Gnome is about 30 seconds off, yet the date command displays the exact network time.
Did you ever find what the problem was?
