Webserver Optimization

I have Suse 9.1 running a webserver(xampp - Apache, MySQL, PHP, Perl, ProFTPD...) and am wanting any suggestions on how to optimize my server. Any running processes that could be turned of or uninstall. Anything.

Mainly my website slows when I have 20 users concurrently(just recently) before it ran fine.

Thanks

The philosophy behind XAMPP is to build an easy to install distribution for developers to get into the world of Apache. To make it convenient for developers XAMPP is configured with all features turned on. That is from there site. It may not be designed for production use.

I guess I won't need to optimize.
