vobs to avi -> how?

i just came across some vob files of a movie i guess i ripped a long time ago, and i'm wondering how i can merge them into a single avi (or mpg, etc.)? can i just run transcode or mencoder on them? they play fine as vob files with audio, would i have to extract the audio and jump through all those hoops first? thanks, i don't have a lot of experience with video.

transcode or mencoder are your tools here. if you want an easier to use gui, instead of having to use the command line, try gtranscode. you could also try dvd::rip.

how do i get the vobs into dvd::rip? i entered the directory, but nothing shows up?
