change uploaded files from filename.avi to filename.avi.html like www.rapidshare.de

hi everyone.

i have one simple question.

basically, i have a simple upload site. what i want is a little control over the upload. i.e. not to give the file straight away, show a page where they can click on the file and then download it. the purpose of it, so i can make some money out of ads.

basically, lets say someone upload a movie file called cat.avi

i want to give them the link to the file http://www.mysite.com/cat.avi.html

i dun want to give the link http://www.mysite.com/uploads/videos/cat.avi.html

an example of this kind script/system can be found at http://www.rapidhsare.de

i know tiney bit all the language, lolz. all the basic that is to understand whats going on and how to edit it so it suits my need.

so anyone know how it is done?

anyhelp is most appreciate it.

thank you

What I would do is create a php script accessible via http://www.mysite.com/download.php?file=cat.avi. Or, better, would be to use Apache's mod_rewrite and get http://www.mysite.com/downloads/cat.avi -> they will never be able to figure out the real path... especially if you pipe the actual download through a php script.
