User/Root X windows speed

RH8, Kde, Opera7
Home system, just me, only one user
When I log in as root the GUI is extremely faster than when i am in my user account, Is the root supposed to be that much faster and if not How can i make my user account just as fast as root? Thanks

You mean faster in general, faster in program start/run times, faster in KDE load times?
