Upgrade linux

If i want to upgrade the linux version from rh7.2 to rh7.3 or rh8 , can i just overwrite the existing system, or need to totally remove the existing rh? My primary partition has two OS , one is win2000 and one is rh7.2 with lilo dual boot, what i need to do if i want to safely remove the rh without affect the existing windows? thx.

You should be able to do that during the installation of Redhat 8.0 or 7.3. Use the disk druid utility to select the partition that you want erased, than reallocate the space. There is also an upgrade option on both Cds (rather than reinstall). They only way to know for sure is to try it out. It might be scarey though. I used to have mine set up on two separate hard disks (Win2k and Linux), but now I just have Linux using both drives.
