Ununtu linux default config files?

Hi,

I am trying to add a user to my system and I have to do it manually without using any tools (for school). I want to know where the default configruation files are, the ones I can place in the new users home directory ? I know in RedHat they are presnt in /etc/skel but that directory is empty in Ubuntu.

Thanks in advance

Maybe Ubuntu doesn't put any default files in the user's home directory? You can check this with an account created the normal way. if you want to check further, there are several commands you can use to locate files of different types on *nix systems. Google and the documentation should take you the rest of the way.
