I'm trying to setup up a imap server and do not know where to find the imap server name. Does anyone know what the imap server name format is?

There are 3 main IMAP servers to choose from:
courier-imap
Cyrus IMAP
UW IMAP

I usually use courier.

UW IMAP I think. Just do a quick search on rpmfind.

Ok I'm going to go with courier imap but when I run the config script I get this big warning that says I'm installing on a redhat machine and should install from rpms. Is this what I sould do or can I continue with the built in script.

It should work with either but the rpms will be easier to install if there is a recent version.

You don;t know if it got installed? Surely you know if you installed it or not?

Is it running? Take a look at the output of:
ps -ef
